Jean

Her eye was formed early in Madrid, at the side of her father, a lawyer with an artist's soul. That apprenticeship led to recognition from Spain's Ministry of Culture and the Kodak Trophy. Later, studies in cinematography at NYU and years directing and producing for television taught her to think in motion, and her still photographs have carried that restlessness ever since: cities that pulse, figures that blur, light that seems to keep moving after the shutter closes.

Her work has been shown in New York, Paris, Madrid and on the French Riviera, including her solo exhibition Multiplex at the Soho Photo Gallery. On the page, she is the author and illustrator of Taking Flight, winner of the Golden Scribe Award, The Art of Falconry, Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock… Blue Planet and Opa: The First Modern Entrepreneur of Venezuela, a tribute to her mother's family.

Nestares likes to say that creativity doesn't strike like lightning; it "comes in whispers." Her work is proof that she has learned to listen.
