Suspended Moment — Wall Sculptural Lamp with Republic-Era Porcelain Bowl by yingting su

"Suspended Moment" is a wall lamp sculpture that blends elements from three eras. The 1987 wave-shaped chair back features a blue-and-white porcelain bowl from the Republican era (1920s-1940s) suspended from it. The bowl is covered with fine cracks from the passage of time and is suspended by modern metal fittings and hand-wrapped with hemp rope—creating a work worth exploring by colliding old and new elements.

We do not conceal or repair the flaws—the cracks in the porcelain, the scratches on the wood—they remain clearly visible, respected rather than hidden. When the LED light inside the bowl illuminates, its warm glow falls on the weathered wooden surface, highlighting every scratch and imperfection. This beauty does not obscure the marks of time, but rather pays homage to them. This work finds a balance between suspension and stillness, allowing fragments from three different eras to coexist harmoniously and seamlessly.
