PHOTOGRAPHY AS PRINTMAKING

posted by Russian American Cultural Center

"Photography as Printmaking" is an exhibition of twenty-three photographic prints by Dmitry Borshch. They belong to series usually exhibited separately – "Exiled from Truth", "Iconography", "Disasters of War" – which may have created an impression of disunity had these prints' surface not been a unifier and maybe the true subject of our show. Its title is borrowed from the eponymous I968 show at MoMA in New York whose artists felt the same preoccupation with surface quality of their images as Borshch feels today. SOLITUDE (CALL FOR ENTRIES)

posted by ARC Gallery and Educational Foundation

DEADLINE - NOV 22, 2020 Juror: Danny Floyd Apply here: https://arcgallery.wufoo.com/forms/solitude/ Solitude can elicit either a sense of euphoria or peace, or a sense of confinement or punishment, while others are isolated in a community unit. As we move forward into the fall and winter months, and COVID continues to impede our movements and interactions, how do we, as individuals, or as members of a larger, even worldwide community, process these survival confinements? As artists, we can use our medium to express the inner joy, conflict, frustration, sadness or peace we find ourselves confronting. ARC is searching for your creative endeavors as a reflection of your process under the current circumstances, keeping artists alone but pulling together into a community. The exhibition will run from Jan 8 - Feb 27, 2021.

JOANNE ARTMAN GALLERY, PRESENTS: JOHN “CRASH” MATOS: CELEBRATING 45 YEARS

posted by JoAnne Artman Gallery

Over his 45 year career, CRASH’s work has engaged with environments on a huge scale - ranging from his early murals on the sides of NYC subway trains in the 70’s to commissions at the Bowery Wall and Miami’s Hard Rock Football Stadium. Barely contained to the planes of his work surfaces, CRASH incorporates dark outlines, bright colors, and figurative elements, bridging the divides between street art, public art, and gallery space.
