ACCIDENTAL OPPORTUNITY

posted by Lynne Forrester

Leaves and stems collide as the wind blows and light bestows angelic-seeming petals with beams. Light and shade co-exist but some seem to hog the attention a little, even if the opportunity is accidental.

BELLICOSE

posted by KATHY FLAMENT

An artist friend of mine, Theresa Knight-McFadden, has recently created a series of collages that are faces of women. These collages are a departure from both the ceramics and paintings I have known her to do. I wanted a departure, too. We agreed on completing 100 collages between the two of us, so I wanted a theme that would carry me through to 50. What could be better than doubling the alphabet? My mental health has always been a concern for me. The pandemic made my physical life smaller and my emotional life, too. This series of collages (some have grown into mixed media because I have enhanced shapes with watercolor pastels or have literally painted over what I have pasted down) has helped my reconnect with how I am feeling and perhaps how you are too.
