When I create embroidery, I build a sense of story and character into each piece. I often imagine a narrative before I begin stitching—who the figure is, the world they belong to, and what they might be feeling. That backstory guides the gestures, expressions, and details, allowing my work to resonate beyond surface beauty. For me, thread is both material and metaphor: a bridge between art and emotion, transforming embroidery into a form of storytelling capable of conveying feelings that extend beyond words. Each stitch becomes a line of empathy, inviting viewers to engage not only with the visual richness of embroidery but with the lives and emotions it evokes.
I earned my BFA from California Institute of the Arts and an MA in Fine Art from the University of the Arts London, Chelsea. Additional study at Art Center College of Design in California, along with the Digital Fabrication Residency, expanded my exploration of tradition and technology. I have lectured at the International Sculpture Convention and the Collage Artists of America, and my work has been exhibited twice in the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition. Most recently, I premiered my work in a solo show in New York City.
Embroidery - The older man let out a hearty laugh, the kind that came from deep within and shook his shoulders. Across the room, his reflection in the mirror captured the moment—eyes squinting, mouth wide with joy, the lines on his face deepening with each chuckle. The mirror held his image like a memory, full of life and light, as if it too was in on the joke.

3D Embroidery suspended in a wooden frame - She hovered in the space between certainty and surrender. There was no panic in her limbs, only a fluid elegance, as if she belonged to the sky itself. Wind threaded through her fingers, her dress rippling like wings, and for a moment it was impossible to tell: was she being pulled down, or rising of her own will? In that weightless breath of time, she was both.

Tapestry - was the kind of woman people remembered long after the circus left town—auburn hair catching the light like a flicker of fire, skin a riot of inked symbols and curious beasts. In the 1930s, when bread was scarce and hope scarcer, she swung from trapezes and smiled through sequins, charming crowds with a wink that hid the storm beneath. Though the audience saw only her daring and dazzle, backstage she wrestled with a quiet, constant self-doubt—a fear that without the spotlight, she might simply vanish. But night after night, she climbed the ladder, stepped into the light, and flew—if only to prove to herself that she still could.

Embroidery on Silk - In the late 1600s, a notorious figure known simply as "The Marquis" held sway over the high seas and noble courts alike. Born to both the nobility and the ocean’s depths. His life was a scandalous blend of decadence and debauchery, filled with high-stakes gambling, raucous champagne-fueled gatherings, and bawdy limericks that had a way of leaving his audiences both shocked and charmed. This eccentric Marquis was a regular at every dimly lit tavern and opulent salon, always spinning tales of exploits about his beloved ship, the HMS Piscaria. Manned by fish-like sailors of fierce loyalty and stranger origins, the Piscaria roamed the seas in pursuit of treasure and revelry. Together, this strange, seaworthy crew painted the coasts in hues of salt and scandal, leaving legends of their daring escapades whispered in every port.

Embroidery - Billy is a young and eager boatswain’s mate aboard the HMS Piscaria, The year is 1670, and the Piscaria, crewed by a fearsome and noble breed of half-human, half-fish sailors, roams the endless seas in search of adventure. Billy, with the wide-eyed enthusiasm of youth, dreams of proving himself among the seasoned deckhands—creatures with gills that flare in the ocean breeze and voices that carry the deep, echoing cadence of the tides. Whether braving tempests, chasing rumors of sunken treasure, or engaging in duels upon the rocking decks of rival corsairs, life aboard the Piscaria is never dull, and Billy wouldn’t trade it for all the gold in this mythical realm.

Tapestry - Humphrey was a solitary sort, fond of quiet evenings filled with smoked mackerel and the soaring strains of opera echoing through his small, book-lined castle. He had long resigned himself to a life of gentle loneliness—until the night he met Angelo. Giles was everything Humphrey wasn’t: evocative, brash, magnetic, and always impeccably dressed, right down to his matching socks. Their meeting was like striking a match in the dark. From that moment on, they were inseparable. Together they built a life, and with great care and delight, they adopted a young fishling—forming an unconventional, seaworthy little family of their own.

Tapestry - Reginald, the half-fish, half-human adopted son of the scandalous duo Humphrey and Giles, was equal parts charm, mischief, and gilled delinquency. A born rogue with a talent for practical jokes and an utter disregard for authority, he was politely expelled from every respectable boarding school from Port Nemo to Palmižana . Headmasters described him as “intolerably impish and perpetually meddlesome.” At home, he was no better—forever leaving trails of water, hiding smoked kippers in the harpsichord, or replacing the butler’s pomade with anchovy paste. And yet, it was impossible to stay cross with him. After all, how do you scold a boy who can pick your pocket, ruin your upholstery, and still kiss you goodnight with the innocence of a guppy.
