Monika Pfannmüller grew up in Antwerp (Belgium). After her studies of music
(Flute), German literature and history in Cologne and Florence she
completed a graphic design education in Munich and subsequently
turned more and more to painting. Important teachers included Harald Naegeli and Meera Hashimoto.
Since many years she has taught drawing and painting and manages creative events for well-known German companies such as Deutsche Telekom.
She has exhibited regularly since 1990, including Artexpo New York (New York) 2025, Art3f Bruxelles (Belgium) 2025, Red Dot Miami, (Miami FL) 2024, Hamptons Fine Art Fair (Southampton NY) 2024, LA Art Show (Los Angeles CA) 2024, Discovery Art Fair Cologne 2024, ARTe Wiesbaden 2023, 2024 and 2025, Augustusburg Castle, Brühl 2007 and Nymphenburg
Castle, Munich 2018 and 2023.
Her paintings were bought by well-known german companies such as Deutz
AG, Fraport and Tetrapak and shown in a WDR TV-Production.
Since the beginning of 2023, she has been represented by TERAVARNA ART
GALLERY Los Angeles and collaborates with ARTIFACT New York and
UNIQUE CONTEMPORARY Turin.
Monika Pfannmüller works primarily
with oil paint, which she spatulas and paints in multiple layers.
Her
paintings are characterized by an extremely fine sense of color,
meditative qualities, and a strong spatial effect. They address
light, water, sky, and natural rhythms, while deliberately remaining
ambiguous.
Nature is my main source of inspiration: the beautiful colors, the light, the rhythm in the alternation of light and shadow. Sometimes also a piece of music, a poem or a metaphor inspires me.
My rather minimalist paintings are often done in shades of blue and blue-green and evoke impressions of landscape, of sky, of water, but they don't depict a concrete landscape.In the painings of this portfolio I create an abstract from landscape by playing with inclined lines and areas and thus slightly unsettling the viewer without the painting ever becoming unbalanced.
People are fascinated by the width and depth in my paintings, the soft transitions and the color gradients. They take a lot of time to look at them and relax. It makes resonate something within them. That's my intention.
