SKYFALL INTO THE SEA

posted by Rina Ritzi

“Skyfall Over the Sea” explores the moment when light breaks through a turbulent sky, touching the sea with both drama and grace. It’s a painting about contrast — storm and stillness, chaos and calm — and the emotional landscapes we carry within us. #ContemporaryArt #OriginalPainting #AbstractLandscape #ModernArtCollector #ArtForInteriors #EmotionalArt #OceanPainting #SkyPainting #ArtWithSoul #RitziArt #LightInArt #ArtCollectorsOfInstagram #MixedMediaPainting #DramaticArt #BuyOriginalArt

UPCOMING SOLO EXHIBITIONS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Marilyn Henrion marilynhenrion@mac.com. 917.359.4621 https://www.artworkarchive.com/profile/henrion and/or marilynhenrion.com Marilyn Henrion: 93 at 93 - Selected Works Parts I / & II Two Solo Exhibitions Celebrate the Creative Legacy of a Textile Art Pioneer Richardson, TX / Irving, TX — In celebration of her 93rd year, acclaimed textile artist Marilyn Henrion will be honored with two solo exhibitions in Texas, showcasing 93 of her original hand-quilted and mixed-media textile works. Titled "Marilyn Henrion: 93 at 93 - Selected Works Parts / & Il," the exhibitions highlight the extraordinary breadth of Henrion's creative journey-from geometric abstraction to digitally manipulated photographs-capturing nearly a century of vision, experimentation, and mastery. Part I will open at the Eisemann Performing Arts Center, Green Mezzanine Gallery, October 1-26, 2025, with a public reception on Friday, October 3, from 6-8 PM. Part II will follow at the Irving Arts Center, Carpenter Lobby Gallery, November 8, 2025-February 28, 2026. Reception date to be announced. Henrion's innovative fusion of traditional hand quilting and contemporary digital technology reflects a lifelong passion for both craft and concept. Her works are grounded in photography—urban landscapes, architectural forms, and abstract compositions-which are then digitally manipulated and transformed into evocative quilted artworks. Whether geometric or representational, each piece is a tactile meditation on memory, place, and perception. "Although all of the images I create from my original photographs are manipulated in the computer before I commit them to a work," Henrion reflects, "I am often conflicted about how much abstraction I want to employ. A fascination with detail vies with the emotional component conveyed in the abstraction." This duality—between the real and the reimagined—echoes Wallace Stevens' poetic dilemma: "The blackbird whistling / Or just after." It is precisely this tension that brings her works to life, inviting viewers into a richly layered world where line, color, and texture vibrate with feeling. The featured image, a hand-quilted cityscape captured at sunrise, encapsulates the artist's signature style: photographic precision enveloped in abstract rhythm, with quilting lines animating the surface like ripples across memory. Henrion's work is included in prestigious museum collections including the Museum of Arts & Design in New York, the International Quilt Museum, the Central Museum of Textiles in Poland and Newark Art Museum in Newark, New Jersey. She is also represented in the Smithsonian Institution's Archives of American Art. She was a member of the riginal Manhattan Quilters' Guild of the 1970s and a lifelong New Yorker, her influence has shaped the discourse on fiber as fine art for more than five decades. In her latest series, Chromatic Geometry, begun in 2024, Henrion returns to her roots in geometric abstraction. These works celebrate the interplay of order and emotion, structure and spontaneity— rendered with bold color, elegant form, and the unmistakable touch of the artist's hand.
